AUTOSERUM: LYMPHOPATHIA VENEREUM, SUBCUT. UP TO 20 MONTHS -

Marks [42B1] in a study of 53 cases of lymphopathia venereum,
found autoserum injections to be a "therapeutically useful source
of specific human antigen". He developed a routine of treatment
wherein 10-15 cc of blood was take from the median basilic vein
and the serum removed by centrifuge or after clotting. The serum
was injected under the skin of the abdominal wall, with treatment
given at 4-day intervals, totalling 12 injections per series,
with 2 weeks rest between series, over periods ranging from 6 to
20 months.
