AUTOHEMOTHERAPY AND IRRADIATION - SYPHILLIS 37B25
Baer [37B25] reported observations on 27 cases of syphillis, of
which ten "showed a complete reversal of their serologic
findings." Baer noted, however, subjective improvement in the
general condition of all patients, regardless of serologic
findings, including weight gain and "increase in vital energy".
Based on a method pioneered a decade earlier by Rajka and
Radnai, Baer exposed the entire body to ultraviolet radiation
biweekly, over 15 weeks, and followed the first and last ten
treatments with 15cc intramuscular autohemotherapy, one-half hour
after irradiation.
AUTOHEMO SAFETY 37B25
AUTOHEMO RECOMMENDED WHERE FEVER THERAPY IS CONTRAINDICATED
37B25
AUTOHEMO FOR CARDIAC, NEUROSYPHILITIC 37B25
Baer asserted "As a rule there are no technical difficulties,
no shock symptoms, and no discomforts noted by the patients with
this form of therapy. ... This treatment is quite simple,
inexpensive, and safe, and the patient remains ambulatory. this
form of therapy is safe for the cardiac and neurosyphilitic and
may be employed where fever therapy is contraindicated."
PYOTHERAPY 37B25
MALARIA THERAPY 37B25
Baer p. 944, discusses mechanical methods intended to produce
a sustained elevation of temperature, whose "advocates claim
results equally as good as the malarial treatment without the
attending mortality risk of 10 to 20%".
