AUTOHEMO FOR PEMPHIGUS: ASTONISHING RESULTS - 32H1
Low 1932 [32H1], 578: "Autoserotherapy has given astonishing
results in a few cases [of chronic pemphigus]. Praetorius
reports complete cure in a case of 2-years' duration .... Breda
treated 3 cases [with autohemotherapy], and in all the eruption
disappeared completely."
AUTOHEMO FOR STREPTOCOCCAL INFECTIONS - 32H1
Low 1932 [32H1], p. 579, "Hoff and Heesch used autoblood [in
streptococcal infections], and Pines reports recovery in a very
bad case in an infant after injections of the father's blood."
AUTOHEMO FOR ULCERS - 32H1
AUTOHEMO FOR GLANDS - 32H1
Low 1932 [32H1], 580, "Treubel, and Bussalai and Devoto saw
rapid healing of ulcers and glands with autohemotherapy.
AUTOHEMO FOR GONOCOCCAL INFECTIONS - 32H1
Low 1932 [32H1], "Spiethoff recommends autoserum for gonorrheal
prostatitis, and Bussalai and Devoto and Mariani report equally
good results with autohemotherapy in all forms of gonococcal
infection."
AUTOSERUM SAFETY - 32H1
AUTOHEMO SAFETY - 32H1
Low 1932 [32H1], 580, "In autoserum and autobloood injections,
there is no risk such as is always present when foreign serums
are used."
MALARIAL THERAPY - 32H1
PYROTHERAPY (HEAT) - 32H1
Low 1932 [32H1], p. 580, "Within recent years malarial therapy
has been very extensively used in the treatment of neurosyphilis,
and especially in tabes and G.P.I. The results have, on the
whole, been very satisfactory .... The Malarial treatment,
however, has certain disadvantages. ... Once the attacks are
established, their severity cannot always be controlled. In
addition, there has been a certain mortality from this treatment.
For these reasons other easier and safer methods of producing a
temperature reaction have been experimented with." These include
milk injections combined with arsenic in neurosyphilis,
tuberculin injections combined with mercurial treatment, typhoid
and other bacterial vaccines, and hot baths.
ACCIDENTAL CURE AS AUTOHEMOTHERAPY - 32H1
Low, 1932 [32H1], 579, "Beume reports a case of syphilis which
did not clear up with several courses of neosalvarsan, mercury
and bismuth. this man had an accident which resulted in
extensive hemorrhage into and around the knee and ankle joints.
The syphilitic eruption rapidly disappeared and the Waserman
reaction became negative, even although no further drug treatment
was being given. This must be looked upon as a case of auto-
haemotherapy."
