AUTOHEMO EXPLANATION; PROCESS OF ELIMINATION - 32A1
Burgess 1932 [32A1], 131: In his investigation of the underlying mechanism of action of autohemotherapy, Burgess first proposed that certain possibilities be eliminated:
"(1) The action of whole-blood injections does not depend on the production of a leucocytosis.
(2) ... no relation between whole-blood injections and the haemoclastic reation was discovered.
(3) Whole blood injections had no effect on the sedimentation rate of the red corpuscles as estimated by the method of Zeckwer and Goodell. (4) ... No constant effect on the production of proteose by a single whole-blood injection could be demonstrated."
