AUTOSEROTHERAPY: IV vs IM 16H6
Robertson [16H6] expressed a preference for IV injections:
"Studies in anaphylaxis have shown the vastly greater
susceptibility of an animal to intravenous injections than to
those given subcutaneously or intramuscularly. ... It seem
possible that ... when we inject subcutaneously, or especially
intramuscularly, prompt reactions and beneficial results follow
only in cases in which by chance we happen to enter a vein."
